Ten meditations
about coexistence
On the occasion of the
delivery of the Convivence Award in his 3 edition, the
journalists Pablo Muñoz ( ABC ), Juan Carlos Serrano ( La Razón ),
José Bejarano ( La Vanguardia ), Manuel Prados ( Canal Sur ), Juan
José Téllez, ( Diario de Sevilla ), Carlos Telmo ( Radio España ),
Carmen Echarri ( El Faro de ceuta ), Higinio Molina ( RTV Ceuta )
and Juan Teba (Canal Sur Radio ), after debating about cohabitation
and the paper of the midways of communication in the transmission of
this, they emitted the following document of commitment:
1.
The human being, by definition, has a right to select freely his place of
residence 2.
Globalization, presented like predominance of the laws of the market,
should not bear a people's limitation of the freedom of movement.
Frontiers must be the surpassed progressively.
3.
The mestization and multi-culture must be seen like positive, enriching
and inevitable elements and must promote them over part of public powers
through active and no excluding policies.
4.
Coexistence is a respectable model of the difference and it supposes the
acceptance of the moral values of the other. Include also that minorities
and majorities share obligations and rights.
5.
The dehumanization of our advanced societies risks to any model of
cohabitation.
6.
The knowledge of another culture is the coexistence's cornerstone. The
educational system must incorporate the traditions of another culture. It
is necessary than at the schools of frontier cities get introduced
different existent languages at the region, so that the educational model
respond to the expectations of the different communities that coexist in
that society. The education for coexistence must exceed of the ambit of
the school and permeating to the world of communication, the culture,
institutions and the family.
7.
The laws
must favour the mutual knowledge, without exclusion, of all the present
communities in the society and pursuing all hostile conduct to the rights
of the fews.
8.
Shocks
among cultures are generates, principally, as a consequence of
marginalization and the poverty than suffer the fringe areas of a city, of
a territory or of the society in aggregate. Progressing in coexistence
implies the improvement of living conditions of those people.
9.
We
advocated emphasizing the basic rights (education, housing and health)
that avoid the social deterioration as a consequence of the
marginalization of the immigrants and the receiving population.
Administrations should have priority to the investments in that space.
10.
Coexistence is a building that it is necessary to lift up day by day by
part of institutions, the civil society and persons. It's a quotidian
effort that drives us away of savagery.
