Time history of the award
1st International Edition of the Ceuta Autonomous
Convivence Award 1999, granted to the Rt. Hon. Mr. Adolfo Suárez
“for his significant and exemplary contribution in fostering values
of justice, fraternity, peace, freedom, access to culture and
equality among men during the Spanish political transition”.
2nd International Edition of the Ceuta Autonomous
City Convivence Award 2000, granted to Mr. Vicente Ferrer “for his
humanitarian work developed in the last thirty years in the fight
against ignorance, sickness, disunion, destitution and poverty on
earth”.
3rd International
Edition of the Ceuta Autonomous City Convivence Award 2001 granted
to the Association Messengers of Peace “for its priceless
contribution since 1972 in favour of the most needy, fostering the
values of equality, tolerance and love among people, all these
values corresponding to those recognised by this Award and
accredited by the Institution”.
4th International Edition of the Ceuta Autonomous
City Convivence Award 2002, granted to the writer Mr. Dominique
Lapierre “for his contribution in improving the living conditions of
numerous communities in the most needy areas of the world”
In 2003, with a consolidated award with its fifth
edition, the Jury conceded this prize to the People of El Salvador
for the harmony, the tolerance and the understanding shown in ten
years of transition toward a society pluralistic, participative and
in pacific cohabitation.
In the sixth edition of the
Convivence Award, in spite of the strength of the rest of
candidacies, the Jury assembled for this edition, decides to
reward to the Town of Madrid for its unison reaction the past March
11th, converting one fatidical and terrible day in the biggest
exponent of solidarity, fraternity and union in front of a dreadful
pain for all its neighbours. And it, with integrity enough
not to lose one’s temper and knowing to turn his anger into tears,
standing straight, like community of citizens of the world, without
distinguished between colours and races, in brother of everyone
about the victims, in mother of everyone of the orphans and
protectress of wholeness the abandoned ». |
